The Muse's Key

After all

After all this time
Though the search for you has ended
I see you every where
At night in my dreams
I see your face and feel the warmth of your embrace
My head on your shoulder
Just like before
Comfortable
And safe
For always
And in the morning
When I wake up
I see your face everywhere
Your name appears
Written in the clouds
and I hear your voice
in every other man’s voice
I need a bullhorn now to break this silence
I’ve held within so long
I need a distraction
To keep you off my mind
And safe within my heart

the love that awaits her

A small child inside her
Not afraid
Eager to reach forward
To touch others
With her gentle baby hands
And to feel the love they, too
Can offer
Eager, too
To let go of memories
Threatening to always haunt her
She can see now
In a mirror once foggy
She sees a beautiful reflection
And eager as she always was
She’s now, after all this time
Finding the strength she sought
Inside her, sheltered safely
She’s alive now
She can breathe, and
With the breath of each new dawn
She knows
Beyond any shadow of doubt
That this world is beautiful
And the creatures in it
Both animal, human and not
Are here to keep her safe
To love her
To nourish her
and keep her free from harm
So she stands up
Dusts off her small and fragile self
And she runs forward
Not stopping for moment
She runs with the wind
She runs to be free
And she runs
Toward the love
That awaits her

hands forever

All the love I have for you
All of my heart and soul
I wore on my sleeve
Like a child
Seeking the love of her elders
Or a baby bird
getting ready to fly
I look for you
I wait for you
I love you
Like no other

When we are apart
My heart feels the miles
And my arms feel
The emptiness
And I weep that we may not touch again
But my sprit knows
That wherever we may be
We are in each others hands
Forever

not exist

Happy and new now
Yet heavy my heart
Faint these tears
Now dried beneath my flesh
And charred my lips into a smile
A caked on mask, powder porcelain
Delicate, to touch I’ll break
Faintest memories
Whispered behind my ears
Soft kisses touched like wind
Like the wind
Breath, my own
Beneath my chest
Heaves this life -- be still
Answers seeking I crawl toward
Walls ne'er crumbling
Down
Always
But more as years go by
In love with you
Yet you do not
Exist
